  Many of the dates of death, and the spouses for this family are gathered from various sources, including an article from the Heard Co. History Book for Ella Adamson Adams, page 163 From "The Youngs and Holloways of Randolph county, Alabama: A Family History" by Cindy H. Young: "Seaborn Henry Adamson was the second child of James J[efferson] and Elizabeth Adamson Sr. He was born on 15 January 1833 in Georgia. Seaborn grew up on the family farm just west of Glenn, Georgia. He married Nancy E. Jackson about 1853 in Heard County, Georgia. Nancy was the daughter of Samuel and Lavinia Malone Jackson and she was born on the 28th or 29th of February 1829. Her date of birth is uncertain since her descendants usually celebrated it on the 28th, but she used to laugh and tell how she only had a birthday every four years. In 1860, Seaborn and Nancy Adamson lived in the Northern Division of Heard County GA with their post office at State Line GA. Seaborn worked as a farmer and owned $500 in real estate and $300 in personal estate. Nancy was unable to read and write, and she had two young children at home. A 13 year old girl named Martha J. Hester lived with the family, but her relationship to the Adamsons remains unknown. "Seaborn Henry Adamson fought in the Civil War in Company I, 41st GA Regiment CSA. This company was also called the 'Heard County Rangers', and Seaborn enlisted as a private on 10 May 1862. He was wounded in the left hip at Perryville KY on 8 October 1862, which resulted in a permanent disability. Ben Caswell served in the same company with Seaborn Adamson and Ben used to tell a war story of how Seaborn was wounded. It seemed the Yankee soldiers were firing hot and heavy during this particular battle. Seaborn was hit and he fell down behind a log and yelled for Ben to come help him because he was 'done for'. Ben said Seaborn was a chubby man and the log did not quite cover everything. A Yankee bullet was fired which grazed Seaborn's backside since it was exposed above the log. Ben stated before he could come to his aid, Seaborn jumped up and moved so fast he beat Ben to more secure cover. Seaborn went on to serve at Resaca GA on 14 May 1864 and he was captured at Columbia SC on 17 Feb 1865. Seaborn became a prisoner of war for almost four months. At the end of the war, Seaborn was released from Hart's Island, New York on 15 June 1865. "Seaborn returned to Heard County GA to a quiet life of farming. Tragedy struck the family on 8 July 1867 when Seaborn and Nancy's fifth child, James Adamson, was run over and killed by a frightened horse when he was only four years old. James was originally buried in Crouch Cemetery, but his body was later moved and buried at the Adamson cemetery near Glenn GA on 18 February 1921." From that same book: "Seaborn Adamson was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Heard County. He died on 3 July 1903 in Heard County GA at the age of 70. Nancy Adamson went on to live with her son, Charlie Green Adamson. She died 22 years later on 9 May 1926. Seaborn and Nancy are buried together in the Adamson family cemetery just west of Glenn in Heard County GA. Several of Seaborn and Nancy's children are also buried at this cemetery." This is from an unsourced World Tree Project: the battle in which Colonel McDaniel, the founder of Bowdon College, was fatally wounded. After recovered from this wound he was serving near Vicksburg, Mississippi when he was captured in the Battle of Champion Hill on May 16, 1863. He was exchanged for a Federal prisoner on July 4 at Fort Delaware, Delaware. After rejoining his company, he fought in the Battle of Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga. He fought in the Georgia campaign at Rocky Face Ridge and was again wounded at the Battle of Resaca in Georgia on May 14, 1864. After rejoining his unit again on February 17, 1865, he was captured at Columbia, South Carolina. He was then held as a prisoner at Camp Hart's Island in New York, arriving there from Newbern, North Carolina on April 10, 1865. He was released from there when he took the oath of allegiance on June 15, 1865, after Lee's surrender. His record shows that he was 6 feet one inch tall, florid complexion, with light hair and blue eyes. He joined the Primitive Baptist Church in Heard County in 1860 and was a member there for forty-three years without a charge. Seaborn and Nancy Jackson Adamson are buried in the Adamson Cemetery west of Glenn, Georgia in Heard County.
